Project five: retail communications

For the project I researched into traditional and digital indoor and outdoor signage and communications using graphics, advertising, media and PR promotion. My client was New Look and I choce to focus on outdoor communications.

The above examples are a building advertisement for game 'Grand theft auto', a bus stop advertisement for "got milk?" and an advertisement for Currys outside the store.
I used these for my adverts for New Look. I used the same image because the idea was that the look would become synonymous with the brand and that the connotation would be a lifestyle consisting of a group of young people having fun and looking stylish and if you bought any clothes from the store you would have this lifestyle too.

Project Four: Part Two - The Final photos

We took 250 photos althogether and then narrowed them down to ten for our campaign shoot.

Project Four: Part One - Photoshoot process

Project Four was to produce an extensive range of Fashion photographs for a new product campaign for your client that will be used in a magazine advertising campaign. We were put into groups and given a brand that the photographs would be for and a magazine that they would go into. our brand was 'Topshop' and the magazine was 'Wonderland'. We decided that we would use Corinne Day's photography as inspiration as she tends to focus on everyday life and there is usually a plain white background to her photographs which is what we found when we looked at photography for 'Wonderland' and 'Topshop'.
We looked through a variety of magazines such as 'Wonderland', 'I-D' and 'Love' magazine to select different poses that we would use for the shoot.

We decided to use Antonia and Kirstie as models, Kirstie because her look empitomises the Topshop look and Antonia because she has modelled before and is comfortable in front of a camera so the photographs would look more professional.
Everyone brought clothes and accessories in that we could use for the shoot and we narrowed them down to 5 outfits for both Kirstie and Antonia.
We did the test shots a couple of days before the photoshoot to see what type of lighting we would want to use and to practice poses so that we wouldn't have to for the real photoshoot. Photos of us doing the photoshoot -

Corrine Day Photography

Corrine Day is a British photographer whose influence on the style and perception of photography in the early 1990s has been immense. She is known for forming close and long-lasting relationships with her models (most famously Kate Moss) which results in intimate and candid portraits. In 1993, Day took photos of Kate Moss in her own flat for British Vogue and was credited for creating the 'waif' look. Her photographs cause controversy and she has been blamed for promoting anorexia, paedophillia and drugs. However, she has also been described as one of the most important photographers of our generation.

Project Three: digital photography and adobe photoshop

For the project I took 20 photos using different settings on my digital camera. Then changed 5 of the photos using photoshop. These are the the original photographs. I chose to photograph my boyfriend for all twenty photos as I felt I would be able to capture him in a variety of places and randomly as he is the person I see the most. Some of the photographs were taken whilst abroad, and I used them because I had used different settings on my camera for them e.g. beach and sunlight which I could not use in the UK as the weather is unpredictable.

These are the photos I changed on photoshop. I have only altered the colour on all of them to keep the quality of the images and to keep them looking quite simple.
